A 4 p.m. appointment in Newport Beach from an office in Irvine is a fifteen-minute trip on paper and an hour in practice. Add parking, a waiting room, and the drive home, and a forty-five-minute appointment has consumed half a working day. People do that once. They do it twice. Then they start rescheduling, and then they stop — and the treatment does not fail so much as the logistics do.
Consistency is not a minor detail in psychiatry. It is close to the whole thing. Medication adjustments need follow-up to be safe and to be right; therapeutic work needs continuity to build. Removing the commute is not a convenience upgrade — it is the single change that most reliably keeps people in care long enough for care to work.
How care works if you live in Orange County
I am licensed to practice medicine in California and see individuals across the entire state by secure video. That includes all of Orange County — Irvine, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Anaheim, Fullerton, Mission Viejo, Laguna, Tustin, Orange, Santa Ana and everywhere in between. To be direct about it: there is no Orange County office. Every appointment is by video, which is exactly why the county line does not matter and the traffic does not either. You will need to be physically located in California at the time of each appointment, and you will need a private space and a device with a camera.
Care starts with a thorough evaluation — a real diagnostic conversation about what is actually going on, running about 60 minutes for adults and about 90 minutes for adolescents. From there, treatment may include medication management, targeted therapy, and performance-focused work. Follow-ups are scheduled at a rhythm that fits your treatment, and messages come to me directly.

Do you have an office in Orange County?
No. The practice is entirely telehealth. I am licensed in California and see patients across the state by secure video, which is what makes it possible to work with people in Orange County without either of us commuting. If in-person care is what your situation requires, I will tell you that at the evaluation.

All of them. Can a telepsychiatrist prescribe medication?
Yes. I prescribe as part of ordinary telehealth care when medication is clinically appropriate. Some medication categories involve additional requirements, which we discuss at the evaluation — nothing is decided before evaluation.
Do you take insurance?
The practice is private-pay and out-of-network, which is what makes unhurried, confidential care possible. You can request a superbill to submit to your insurance if your benefits include out-of-network reimbursement. Details are laid out inside the application before you commit to anything.
Do you see teenagers as well as adults?
Yes. I am board-certified in child & adolescent psychiatry in addition to adult and addiction medicine. Adolescent evaluations run about 90 minutes rather than the 60 typical for adults, because they include developmental history and parent input. More on that on the child & adolescent page.
